Advice and guidance by the school's counselors-atiqah-

School counselors also play an important role to solve gangsterism problems among teenagers. As we know, teenagers spend their time almost half of their days in school, so that, if school counselors are playing their role as instructor, facilitator and also counselor to their students by giving and organizing some proper and suitable programmes, their students will be more knowledgeable and have views on bad effects in doing gangsterism activities. They will be more aware that gangsterism will make them suffer and life as a student will become worse if they are punished to be expelled from school. In other words,  only school counselors have a big role and carry the responsibility in creating a good personality in their students’ characteristics. The school counselors must keep in touch with their students who are involved themselves in disciplinary problems because most probably this students might bring themselves in gangsterism cases too. Besides that, the school counselors must try to find ways to avoid gangsterism activities to be happen in their school. To summarize, if the school counselors are always aware about their students’ activities, the number of teenagers involved in gangsterism will be decrease day by day and gangsterism cases can be solved by the advice and guidance by the school counselors.

  1. I agree. Some parents blame it on school counselors because they think they have sent their children to school and the teachers at school are responsible for educating the young ones. Of course school counselors are paid to give some conseling and advice to the students, but what about parents as guardians? They should not point fingers when their children are caught misbehaving.

When teachers start to punish the students, some parents would march in to complain to the principal or the teacher, some with threats of court or even physical action.

As such, parents must take part of the blame for this moral and religious decay among the young. Their upbringing plays a very important role in the way they handle themselves socially.

If they learn hatred at home, that's what they will bring with them to school. To curb these social ills, parents, educators and society atlarge should be aware of what is going on with our youths.

Though there are various psychological and physical factors that could cause a person to choose to become a gangster, everyone should work together with the school to educate the children instead of pointing fingers and doing nothing. -Thiru-
